Commisioner Riaz Mehsud, Minister Adnan Qadri Lead Efforts for Stranded Pakistanis in Afghanistan

PESHAWAR: On the directives of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a high-level meeting was held on Monday at the Commissioner Office Peshawar under the chairmanship of Commissioner Riaz Mehsud.

The meeting was attended by Member Provincial Assembly Sahibzada Muhammad Adnan Qadri, Afghan Consul General, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Director General NADRA, Deputy Commissioner Khyber, and representatives of other relevant departments.

Participants reviewed in detail the issues faced by transporters, teachers, students, and laborers from Khyber district who are stranded in Afghanistan due to ongoing tensions. It was highlighted that a large number of Pakistani passport holders are currently stuck across the border and facing serious difficulties in returning home.

Sahibzada Muhammad Adnan Qadri strongly raised the concerns of the affected individuals and emphasized the need for immediate and practical measures to ensure their safe, dignified, and early repatriation.

It was decided that a comprehensive list of stranded drivers, teachers, and students would be compiled through the Chief Secretary and shared with relevant authorities, including the Afghan Consul General, to facilitate an effective and expedited return process.

The meeting also agreed to enhance coordination among concerned departments and accelerate diplomatic and administrative efforts to provide maximum relief to Pakistani citizens in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, on the directives of Riaz Mehsud and Sahibzada Muhammad Adnan Qadri, the Director General NADRA, Deputy Commissioner Khyber, and other senior officials will visit Landi Kotal to review the situation at the Afghan refugee camp.
