Consensus on Journalists’ Protection and Law and Order: TUJ Delegation Holds Key Meeting with DPO Bajaur

Bajaur: A representative delegation of the Tribal Union of Journalists (TUJ), led by its President Hasbanullah, met with District Police Officer (DPO) Bajaur Waqas Rafiq. The meeting featured detailed and serious discussions on the overall law and order situation in District Bajaur and the tribal districts, prevailing security challenges, and the issues faced by journalists.
The delegation included TUJ President Hasbanullah, General Secretary Muhammad Jamil, Vice President Abuzar Afridi, Finance Secretary Dildar Hussain, former TUJ President Qazi Fazlullah, senior journalist Anwarzada Gulyar, and Fazal Hakim. The delegation apprised the DPO of the security concerns faced by journalists during reporting, field-related challenges, and matters concerning professional safety.
On the occasion, DPO Waqas Rafiq appreciated the important and responsible role of journalists, stating that journalists play a key role in promoting public awareness, transparency, and the rule of law in society. He assured that the district police would accord top priority to the protection of journalists and that immediate and effective measures would be taken in the event of any untoward incident.
Emphasizing the need to further strengthen coordination between the police and the media, DPO Waqas Rafiq said that mutual cooperation and trust would not only help address journalists’ issues but would also yield positive outcomes in maintaining peace and law and order in the area.
In conclusion, the TUJ delegation welcomed the cooperation and positive approach of the police authorities and expressed hope that practical steps regarding journalists’ protection and professional facilitation would be taken soon, enabling them to perform their professional duties without fear.
