PESHAWAR: Advisor to the KP Chief Minister on Finance Muzzammil Aslam, has issued an important statement regarding electricity usage in the country. He said that during Imran Khan’s government, people used electricity freely and were not worried about electricity bills under the PTI founder’s government.
Muzzammil Aslam stated that in 2021, 950,000 people across Pakistan used less than 200 electricity units, while the remaining consumers used more than 200 units. He said that now, in 2025, the number of consumers using less than 200 units has increased to 2.07 million.
He added that in 2021, only 34 percent of people used less than 200 units of electricity, whereas in 2025, 61 percent of the public is using less than 200 units.
The KP Finance Advisor said that this means 38 percent of the population has been forced to reduce electricity consumption due to oppressive electricity bills. He added that if solar usage is included, this percentage may be even higher than 38 percent.
Muzzammil Aslam further said that according to a government survey, people in the country have already been reduced to eating only one proper meal that includes basic items like bread, milk, and lentils; meat is not even available for people to afford, not even to smell.
