DC Kohat orders to curb child labour and human trafficking

KOHAT: A meeting of the District Vigilance Committee was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Kohat, Rahimullah Mehsud in his office today. The meeting beside others, was also attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief) along with officials from the district administration, police, labour department and other concerned institutions. The meeting reviewed in detail the measures being taken to curb child labour and human trafficking in the district. It was unanimously decided that the district administration, police, and labour department will conduct joint operations to identify those involved in such illegal activities and strict legal action will be taken against them. It was further decided that besides field-level raids, a comprehensive awareness campaign will also be launched to educate parents and the general public about children’s rights and the relevant laws. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner said that child labour is a grave crime which requires coordinated efforts by all institutions to eradicate. He stressed that providing education and a safe environment to the children is the joint responsibility of the state and the society and depriving any child of their fundamental rights is unacceptable. He assured that strict action will be taken against all violators without discrimination.
