CHARSADDA: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Mardan has sentenced a resident of Sardheri, Charsadda, to death on charges of blasphemy.
According to details, the convict, Shehzad, was accused of posting derogatory content against Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and the Almighty on September 7, 2024, as well as denying the concept of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat (Finality of Prophethood). Following the incident, a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at Sardheri Police Station by Maulana Abdul Wahab Darvesh, head of the International Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Movement in Tehsil Charsadda.
The case was registered under sections 295-A, 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code, and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act. After 35 hearings, ATC Judge Fazal Sattar pronounced the verdict, handing down the death penalty to the accused.
The prosecution of the case was pursued by religious leaders from the Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Movement, while Advocate Muhammad Shafiq represented the complainants in court.
Following the verdict, the International Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Movement organized a press conference and a thanksgiving rally in Sardheri, where Tehsil Council Chairman Mufti Abdul Rauf Shakir, Maulana Abdul Wahab Darvesh, and other religious leaders addressed the participants.
