Chairman of the All Pakistan Secretariat Group, Zafar Khan Yousafzai, has expressed serious concern over the failure to ensure timely payment of salaries to government employees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, terming the delay unacceptable.
He said that salaries of provincial government employees are often disbursed through various banks as late as the 5th of every month, causing severe financial hardship for employees and their families. He added that the situation may worsen further this month as the 1st and 2nd fall on Saturday and Sunday, raising the risk of additional delays.
Zafar Khan Yousafzai demanded that the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Secretary Finance take immediate notice of the issue and issue clear and strict directives to the concerned departments and banks to ensure that salaries are paid before the end of the month or prior to holidays under all circumstances.
He stated that government employees are already under immense pressure due to rising inflation, and any delay in salaries is unbearable for them. Timely payment of salaries is a fundamental right of government employees, and any negligence in this regard is completely unacceptable.
