BAJAUR: In Bajaur, teachers of double-shift schools staged a protest demonstration under the banner of the Double-Shift School Teachers Association. The protest was held at the Bajaur Press Club and later turned into a rally that marched towards Khar Chowk.
Speakers, including Association President Najeebullah, Abdul Hadi, Rafiullah, Rizwan, Imad Khan, Abdul Wadood, and others, said that the notification issued on September 10 regarding the re-advertisement of second-shift teachers should be withdrawn immediately. They also demanded the immediate reversal of the notification de-notifying President Najeebullah.
The speakers maintained that the second-shift school system was a successful project of the PTI government, yet teachers were still not being paid their salaries according to the law and were repeatedly subjected to threats and intimidation. They urged the government to enact legislation to secure the future of these teachers.
They further demanded that their pending liabilities be cleared without delay and that timely payment of their salaries be ensured so they could overcome their hardships.
The protestors also chanted strong slogans against the provincial government and the education department, vowing to continue their struggle until their legitimate rights are secured.
