Peshawar: Renowned documentary filmmaker and social activist Wagma Feroz emphasized the crucial role of public participation in promoting cultural awareness and preserving the heritage of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) during a special event held at Nishtar Hall, Peshawar.
The event, organized by Mafkoora in collaboration with the Tourism and Culture Authority, featured a theatre performance and a musical evening aimed at showcasing the province’s diverse cultural expressions.
Speaking to Daily Times on the occasion, Wagma Feroz said that culture is the identity of a nation and must be preserved through collective efforts. She stressed that people from all walks of life—especially the youth—should actively engage in artistic and cultural activities to strengthen social cohesion and promote peace.
“Our culture reflects tolerance, diversity, and shared values. It is vital that citizens recognize their responsibility in keeping this heritage alive,” she remarked.
She appreciated the initiatives of Mafkoora and the Tourism and Culture Authority for providing a platform to local artists and performers, enabling them to showcase their talents and connect with audiences.
The event drew a large audience, including students, artists, and cultural enthusiasts, who lauded the performances and the message of unity and cultural pride conveyed through art and music.
Feroz added that such events not only entertain but also educate communities about their roots, traditions, and collective identity. “When art becomes a medium of awareness, it transforms society,” she noted.
The evening concluded with a vibrant musical session celebrating the rich artistic legacy of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
