PESHAWAR: Provincial Minister for Health Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Khaliq-ur-Rehman, formally assumed charge of his office today, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the province’s healthcare sector.
After officially taking charge, the minister met with senior officials of the Health Department and reviewed ongoing projects, administrative matters, and the province’s overall healthcare framework. He emphasized the government’s commitment to improving public health infrastructure, ensuring the availability of essential medicines, and enhancing the performance of hospitals and primary healthcare units across urban and rural areas.
Speaking to the media, Khaliq-ur-Rehman stated that the health sector is one of the top priorities of the provincial government. He reaffirmed his dedication to providing quality healthcare services to citizens, addressing staff shortages in hospitals, and introducing reforms to make the health system more efficient and transparent.
He also expressed appreciation for the tireless efforts of doctors, nurses, and health workers, particularly those serving in remote and underserved regions. “Our focus will be on strengthening preventive healthcare, upgrading medical facilities, and ensuring that no citizen is deprived of medical attention due to lack of access or resources,” he added.
The minister’s assumption of charge was attended by senior health officials, departmental heads, and representatives from various medical institutions who briefed him on key initiatives and challenges within the health sector.
