Khyber District Launches Olive Tree Grafting Campaign

JAMRUD: The Khyber District government has launched a revolutionary project to graft wild olive trees, aiming to increase their quantity and promote olive cultivation. Director Agriculture Khyber, Zia-ul-Islam Dawar, stated that the provincial government has set a target of grafting over 200,000 wild olive trees in tribal districts, with Khyber District aiming to graft 100,000 trees within a month.

The campaign began with a training workshop in Tora Wela, Zakha Khail, where local people received practical training on grafting. Director Zia-ul-Islam Dawar emphasized that this initiative will provide employment opportunities to locals, positively impact the environment and agriculture, and boost the local economy. Olive cultivation will also help mitigate the effects of climate change.

Local residents appreciated the Agriculture Department’s efforts, saying that this initiative will improve the area’s green cover and provide financial benefits through olive production. The campaign is expected to have a positive impact on the local ecosystem and economy.
