The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tennis Association has announced cash awards for male and female players and coaches who won bronze medals at the 35th National Games. The awards were distributed by Senior Vice President Umar Ayaz on the special instructions of the Association’s President, DIG Muhammad Saleem Marwat.
Speaking on the occasion, Senior Vice President Umar Ayaz said that the purpose of awarding cash prizes is to encourage athletes, as players from the province displayed outstanding performances by defeating top-seeded opponents. He highlighted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s women tennis players created history by winning medals at the National Games for the first time, which is highly commendable. He expressed hope that the players would achieve even greater success in future National Games and assured continued support and incentives for athletes.
In the men’s team event at the National Games, Barkatullah, Saqib Hayat, and Shehwar Khan secured the bronze medal. Barkatullah also won a bronze medal in the men’s singles event. In the men’s doubles competition, Saqib Hayat and Barkatullah claimed the bronze medal.
In the women’s team event, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s tennis players delivered an impressive performance and won a bronze medal at the National Games for the first time in the province’s history.
The Provincial Tennis Association awarded PKR 12,000 each to Barkatullah and Saqib Hayat, while Shehwar Khan, coach Zakirullah, coach Muhammad Nauman, Hania Khalid, Amina Bibi, and Rabab received PKR 6,000 each as cash awards.
