KOHAT AUTHORITIES MOVE TO FIX POWER, GAS AND WATER WOES

KOHAT: Senior government officials agreed on urgent measures to address gas, electricity and water shortages in Kohat while separately reviewing progress on linking newly discovered gas reserves to the main supply network.
An important meeting to this effect was held under the chairmanship of the Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Motasim Billah Shah at his office on Saturday. The meeting beside others, was attended by the Member of the National Assembly Shehryar Khan Afridi, the focal person of the Chief Minister’s Adviser on Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan, along with heads of the relevant departments.
Participants held detailed discussions on the city’s persistent utility issues and approved key decisions aimed at providing immediate relief to the public. It was decided that implementation of all the decisions related to gas, electricity and water supply would be closely monitored under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner Kohat to ensure effective and timely results.
In a separate high-level meeting, also chaired by the Commissioner Syed Motasim Billah Shah, reviewed the plan to connect newly discovered gas reservoirs to the main transmission line. The meeting was attended by the representatives of the MOL Pakistan, concerned deputy commissioners, district police officers and officials from the oil and gas sector.
The forum examined the project’s progress and operational requirements in detail. Directing all the concerned departments to complete the project on a priority basis, the commissioner described the new gas discovery as a “national asset” and a special blessing for the country, the province and the local population. He said the timely completion of the project would help meet growing gas demand and create employment opportunities in the region, contributing to economic activity and energy security.
The meetings concluded with a renewed commitment by the divisional administration to ensure uninterrupted basic services and fast-track strategic energy projects for the benefit of the public.
