DG Sports KP Tashfeen Haider Appointed Chef de Mission
Peshawar, December 2, 2025:
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s 494–member contingent comprising athletes and officials will depart for Karachi on December 4 to participate in the 35th National Games 2025. The provincial athletes will compete in 32 different sports disciplines during the event.
The Directorate General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has appointed DG Sports KP, Mr. Tashfeen Haider, as the Chef de Mission of the provincial contingent. Mr. Rehmat Gul Afridi will serve as Deputy Chef de Mission (Male), Ms. Safeena Babar as Deputy Chef de Mission (Female), Mr. Muhammad Amjad Khan as Contingent Secretary, while Mr. Shah Faisal will perform duties as Finance Secretary.
Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association Mr. Zulfiqar Butt stated that athletes have undergone extensive preparations for the Games. A 14-day special training camp, organised by the Directorate of Sports KP across multiple venues in Peshawar, will conclude on December 3, following which the contingent will travel to Karachi.
He expressed gratitude to Advisor to Chief Minister on Sports & Youth Affairs Taj Muhammad Tarand and DG Sports KP Tashfeen Haider for ensuring top-class facilities for the athletes. The provincial government has also announced cash incentives for medalists: PKR 300,000 for Gold, PKR 200,000 for Silver, and PKR 100,000 for Bronze medal winners.
The 35th National Games, hosted by the Sindh Olympic Association, will take place from December 6 to 13, 2025. Over 11,000 athletes and officials from across the country will participate in 33 sports, marking the largest edition in the history of the National Games. The opening ceremony will be held on December 6 at the National Stadium Karachi, graced by President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, while the closing ceremony on December 13 will be attended by the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
