PESHAWAR: Journalists from various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa attended an important briefing at the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) office regarding the ongoing Operation Ghazb-ul-Haq and the broader regional security environment.
During the meeting, officials emphasized that Pakistan has no conflict with Afghanistan or the Afghan people. However, it was stated that the Afghan Taliban regime is acting as a central “proxy master” of terrorism in the region and has become a threat to regional peace and stability by facilitating multiple terrorist organizations.
The briefing underlined that the Afghan Taliban regime must choose between maintaining constructive relations with Pakistan or continuing to patronize terrorist groups. Operation Ghazb-ul-Haq was described as a continuation of Pakistan’s sustained and uncompromising war against terrorism. Officials made it clear that the operation will continue until there is a credible guarantee and practical demonstration of the complete elimination of terrorist sponsorship from Afghan soil, adding that Pakistan is in no haste and will proceed with strategic patience.
Participants were informed that extremist elements described as “Khawarij” are promoting a distorted and self-styled interpretation of Islam. Officials stressed that Islam has no connection with terrorism, suicide attacks, the massacre of innocent civilians, atrocities against women, or attacks on mosques. Religious scholars from all schools of thought have declared the fight against such extremist elements and their facilitators as a just struggle.
It was further clarified that Pakistan is targeting only terrorist hideouts, facilitation centers, and border-adjacent launching pads of Fitna-ul-Khawarij and Fitna-ul-Hindustan, strictly on the basis of verified intelligence. Reports alleging deliberate targeting of civilian populations were termed baseless and contrary to facts. Officials stated that such narratives ignore the heavy toll terrorism has inflicted on innocent Pakistani lives.
The forum was informed that, in the interest of transparency, the Ministry of Information and relevant security institutions are regularly updating the media and the public about the progress of Operation Ghazb-ul-Haq, including the release of authentic video reports.
It was also highlighted that certain elements operating under the Taliban regime in Afghanistan have described Operation Ghazb-ul-Haq as a significant development, while false and fabricated propaganda is being disseminated through Afghan official social media accounts and sections of Indian-aligned media during the course of the operation.
In addition to cross-border actions against terrorist infrastructure, Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) are ongoing within Pakistan, with more than 200 IBOs reportedly conducted daily to dismantle terrorist networks.
The briefing concluded with a strong emphasis on national unity and the full implementation of the National Action Plan as essential components for eradicating terrorism. Officials reiterated that Pakistan seeks constructive and positive relations with all countries but remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty, integrity, and national security in light of evolving regional dynamics, including the situation in Iran and surrounding areas.
