Peshawar: The Quaid-e-Azam Day Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Junior Boys Under-9, U-11, U-13 and Girls Under-15 Squash Championship commenced at the Qamar Zaman Squash Complex Peshawar Sports Complex.
Around 400 young players from different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are participating in the championship which is being organized under the auspices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Squash Association.
The event was formally inaugurated by the Chief Executive of Peshawar Cantonment Board, Mr. Babar Hussain who attended as the chief guest. Former world squash champion and Chairman KP Squash Association, legend Qamar Zaman,former world No. 2 Mohibullah Khan,senior coach of the Directorate and chief organizer Munawar Zaman, coach Fazal Khalil and squash coaches Tahir Iqbal and Muhammad Waseem were also present on the occasion.
In the opening matches played at the Qamar Zaman Squash Complex, Nabeel Tariq of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa defeated Fahad Arif by 2–0 to qualify for the next round.
The championship aims to promote squash at the grassroots level and provide competitive exposure to young talent across the province.
