PESHAWAR: The excellent performance of Pakhtunkhwa players in the National Junior Badminton Championship continues. All the players reached the semi-finals. In the Under-15 category of the National Junior Badminton Championship being held in Lahore under the auspices of the Pakistan Badminton Federation, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hasnain Khan defeated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Ikramullah 2-0. In the Under-17 quarter-final, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Abdul Haseeb Khan defeated WAPDA’s Khuzima Shahzad 2-0. In the second quarter-final, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Najam Saqib defeated Punjab’s Ahmed Usman 2-0. In the Under-19 category, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Qari Muhammad Umar defeated Punjab’s Haroon Khurram while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hasir Shah defeated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Farhan Ahmed. In the Under-19 doubles, Qari Umar and Abdul Haseeb defeated Ahmed Usman and Zain Bajwa to qualify for the next round. In the Under-21 category, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Taimur Khan defeated Punjab’s Ahmed Niaz 2-0. In the Under-21 doubles, Taimur Khan and Nasrullah defeated Punjab’s Tahir Subhani and Faizan were defeated 2-0, while in the U-21 girls category, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Laiba Mushtaq and Marwa Jadoon defeated Punjab’s Tayyab Shafiq and Tamiya Qureshi to qualify for the semi-finals. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Badminton Association General Secretary Mian Sadaqat Shah congratulated all the players, coaches Hayatullah, Nadeem Khan and officials on this excellent performance and expressed hope that the players of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will bring glory to the province and the country by presenting their best in the finals. He expressed his best wishes for the players and prayed for their further success.
