PESHAWAR: The KP Textbook Board authorities sealed bookshops and imposed fines on violators during crackdown against the illegal sale of books in Tehsil Kabal, Swat.
The action was carried out on the directions of the Chairman, KP Textbook Board Abidullah Kakakhel. The operation was led by Secretary KP Textbook Board, Dr. Zainullah Garwaki, who was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Kabal, Ayesha Nasir.
During the raids, several booksellers’ shops were inspected. Burhan Book Stationery and Ajmal Book Stationery were sealed for selling “not for sale” textbooks, and FIRs were lodged against them. In addition, several other bookshops were fined for dealing in pirated books and for committing other violations of KP Textbook Board rules and regulations.
The authorities said that such enforcement actions aim to curb illegal practices, discourage the sale of pirated and unauthorized textbooks, and ensure the availability of standard and approved educational material for students.
The people of the area lauded the timely action by the inspection team, appreciating the efforts to protect students’ interests and strengthen regulation in the textbook market.
