PESHAWAR: Malakand Division emerged as champions in the thrilling table tennis competition of the Provincial Inter-Divisional Schools Sports Gala held in Peshawar, while Peshawar Division secured the runners-up position after a closely contested final.
As part of its continued efforts to promote sports among students, the Provincial Education Department organized the annual Provincial Inter-Divisional Schools Sports Gala, featuring enthusiastic participation from student-athletes representing various divisions across the province.
The gala included competitions in a wide range of sports such as table tennis, basketball, badminton, squash, volleyball, hockey, taekwondo, tug of war, football, and athletics, all of which were played with great passion and competitive spirit.
The table tennis matches were held at Qayyum Stadium, Peshawar, where Malakand Division and Peshawar Division displayed outstanding performances to qualify for the final. Malakand Division was represented by Noor Khan and Hanan from Al-Madina Public School, Swat, while Peshawar Division fielded Nauman, Saad, and Mustafa from Government Higher Secondary School, Hayatabad.
The final witnessed a tough and exciting contest between the two strong sides. However, Malakand Division’s players Noor Khan and Hanan demonstrated superior skills, coordination, and composure to defeat Peshawar Division and clinch the championship trophy.
The closing ceremony was graced by the chief guest, Akbar Zaman, Principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Hayatabad, who distributed trophies among the winning teams. Other notable attendees included Janas Khan, Hafeez-ur-Rehman, Tasbeeh Ullah, and Azmat Hayat.
Teachers and participants appreciated the sports gala, terming it a positive and healthy initiative aimed at promoting sports culture, discipline, and physical fitness among students across the province.
