Nutrition Stabilization Center-built for malnourished children inaugurated

PESHAWAR: The Provincial Minister for Health, Khaliq ur Rehman, formally inaugurated the Nutrition Stabilization Center established for malnourished children at Benazir Bhutto Children Hospital, Mardan. The center comprises 8 beds, where children suffering from malnutrition will be provided with medical treatment and protein-rich nutrition.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Dean and Chief Executive Officer, Medical Teaching Institution Mardan, Professor Dr. Jawad Ahmad; Hospital Director, Mardan Medical Complex, Colonel (R) Dr. Gulzar Ahmad Khan; Medical Director Professor Dr. Muhammad Syed; representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO); and other relevant officials.

The Nutrition Stabilization Center at Benazir Bhutto Children Hospital has been established with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO). WHO has provided beds, essential medical equipment, a qualified nutritionist, and other staff for the center. A separate play area for children has been arranged, along with a dedicated kitchen for preparing protein-rich meals for malnourished children. The primary objective of the center is to ensure quality care and effective treatment for children suffering from malnutrition.

Following the inauguration, the Provincial Minister for Health visited various departments of the hospital, reviewed the medical facilities being provided to patients, and received a detailed briefing from the administration. During the visit, he also toured the Cath Lab at Mardan Medical Complex, where he was informed that more than 700 angiography and angioplasty procedures have been successfully performed to date.

Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister for Health Khaliq ur Rehman stated that the provision of timely and quality healthcare facilities to the people of the province is the government’s top priority. He said that over the past years, several reforms and landmark initiatives have been introduced in the health sector, resulting in a significant improvement in healthcare performance. He further added that all available resources are being utilized to provide the best possible healthcare services, and that free medical treatment is being provided through the Sehat Card, benefiting millions of people.
