KARACHI: A state-of-the-art paddle arena was inaugurated at Naya Nazimabad in response to the growing popularity of paddle sports. Chairman Naya Nazimabad, Arif Habib, attended the ceremony as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the court by cutting the ribbon.
Speaking on the occasion, Arif Habib said that Naya Nazimabad is a true reflection of a “Sports City,” offering facilities for nearly twenty sports including cricket, football, futsal, squash, tennis, swimming, table tennis and badminton. He added that with the construction of the paddle court, another rapidly growing sport has been introduced to the community.
He expressed confidence in the potential of Pakistani youth, stating that they are highly talented and hopeful that they will also achieve success in paddle sports.
Responding to a question, Arif Habib said that Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, has assured him that once the hotel project in Naya Nazimabad is completed, major cricket matches will also be hosted there.
Chief Executive Officer Samad Habib said that several sports competitions, including cricket, football and tennis tournaments, were organized during Ramadan. He added that a national paddle tournament will soon be arranged at the newly inaugurated facility.
Among those present at the ceremony were President Naya Nazimabad Gymkhana Syed Muhammad Talha, Chief Operating Officer Muhammad Saeed, Senior Manager Sports Muhammad Asif, Senior Manager Raheel Karim, former Test cricketer Jalaluddin, businessman Usman Ghani, Tariq Iqbal and a large number of citizens.
The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony and the release of colorful balloons into the air, marking the inauguration of the new sports facility.
