ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said cross‑border incursions from Afghan soil must stop completely and that Pakistan will not move from its position on fighting terrorism.
Speaking to the media, Khawaja Asif warned that Pakistan will use force decisively where needed.
He said terrorist centres have been established inside Afghanistan and urged the Taliban regime in Kabul to stop supporting militants.
“Where required, we will use full force,” he said, demanding that Kabul end its backing of terrorist groups.
The minister added that mediators will fully safeguard Pakistan’s interests and stressed there can be no meaningful improvement in bilateral ties without effective measures to stop terrorism.
He said Afghanistan must guarantee peace in Pakistan. The defence minister said Pakistan will not tolerate terrorism on its soil — whether from proscribed groups like the TTP or BLA.
Khawaja Asif also commented on domestic politics, saying the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was becoming increasingly isolated while people from the former FATA region trust the federal government’s sincerity.
He accused PTI members of pursuing narrow political interests and stressed that the country cannot be run under “Niazi law,” underscoring the need to protect the nation’s territorial and strategic interests.
