Peshawar, December 3, 2025:
A two-day Para Table Tennis Championship was successfully organized in Peshawar to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event was jointly hosted by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Table Tennis Association, Directorate General of Sports KP, Association for the Rehabilitation of the Physically Disabled (ARPD), Government Special Education Complex, and the Regional Sports Office Peshawar.
Director General Sports KP, Mr. Tashfeen Haider, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests included Mr. Kashif Farhan, Regional Sports Officer Peshawar, and Mr. Waseem, Director ARPD. They praised the exceptional performances of the participating para athletes.
Addressing the opening ceremony, DG Sports KP, Mr. Tashfeen Haider, said:
“Para athletes are the pride of our society. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is committed to promoting their talent and ensuring the best possible facilities. Events like this not only uplift their confidence but also raise positive awareness in society about inclusion and empowerment.”
The championship featured competitions across five categories for both male and female para athletes. In the women’s wheelchair category, Tajmeena Bibi defeated Rubeena 3–0. In the men’s events, Iqraar won against Tahir 3–1, while Zakir beat Shah Muslim 2–1 in the wheelchair category. Mubeen secured a 2–0 victory over Momin in his respective category.
Special commendations were extended to Mr. Kifayat Ullah Khan, Vice President Pakistan Table Tennis Federation, and Mr. Mian Absar Ali, Senior Vice President KP Table Tennis Association and National Para Champion/Coach. Their leadership, dedication, and continuous efforts played a central role in the successful planning and execution of the championship. Their contributions toward empowering persons with disabilities through sports were highly appreciated by guests and participants alike.
