PESHAWAR: On the directives of Chief Executive Officer Akhtar Hameed Khan, the surveillance team of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) conducted a joint operation against electricity theft in the commercial sector of Jahangira Sub-Division, disconnecting several illegal connections and recovering fines amounting to Rs 650,000.
According to details, the PESCO Surveillance Department received credible information regarding illegal commercial electricity connections in the Jahangira Sub-Division. Acting on the tip-off, Assistant Director Surveillance Ashfaq Khan, along with sub-division staff, carried out raids at various commercial premises.
During the operation, the electricity meter at Gul Family Restaurant was found tampered. The three-phase meter installed at Maz Crush Plant was detected with shunts inserted, constituting a clear case of meter tampering. Similarly, action was taken against PZ Khan Crush Machine, DG PSO Pump, Farhan PSO Pump, and several other illegal connections.
All illegal connections were disconnected on the spot, and strict action was initiated against the concerned owners in accordance with prevailing rules and regulations.
PESCO reiterated its commitment to zero tolerance against electricity theft and urged consumers to ensure lawful usage, warning that violators will face stringent penalties without exception.
