PESHAWAR: The Peshawar District Inter-Club Weightlifting Championship will commence on April 14 at the Gym Hall of Peshawar Sports Complex, organized under the supervision of the Regional Sports Office, Peshawar.
The three-day event will feature six different clubs from Peshawar competing across six weight categories: 55kg, 65kg, 73kg, 81kg, 89kg, and over 89kg. Young athletes are expected to showcase their full potential during the competitions.
According to Regional Sports Officer Kashif Farhan, the event is being held with the approval of the Peshawar District Administration and under the guidance of the Director General Sports. He added that, in line with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s sports policy, inter-club competitions are being consistently organized to promote sports at the grassroots level, with the weightlifting championship forming an important part of this initiative.
Farhan further stated that all arrangements for a successful event have been completed with the support of the District Weightlifting Association, ensuring that athletes will be provided with top facilities.
Such events not only encourage youth participation in positive activities but also play a key role in identifying and nurturing local talent.
