PPC Applauds Efforts of Gandapur and Shahab Ali Shah for Journalists’ Welfare

Peshawar: The annual General Body meeting of the Peshawar Press Club was held on Saturday at the Press Club premises. The meeting was presided over by President M. Riaz, and hundreds of club members and journalists participated.

During the meeting, the one-year performance report of the elected body was presented, highlighting in detail the welfare initiatives undertaken for working journalists under the leadership of President M. Riaz and with the support of various committees. The General Body appreciated the annual performance and unanimously approved the report.

An audit report of the club’s accounts was also presented. The General Body praised the excellent financial discipline and transparency in expenditures during the year, and the accounts were unanimously approved.

As in previous years, the General Body approved the organization of a Fun Fair for members, their children, and families in the early days of December at Chacha Younas Park; a briefing for Press Club members regarding the New Peshawar Valley Media Enclave; and an event related to the RMI Media Cricket League. Former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur will be the chief guest at the ceremony. During his tenure, significant welfare steps were taken for working journalists across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in provuncial capita Peshawar. The meeting also expressed the hope that current Chief Minister Muhammad Sohaib will take similar initiatives for journalists’ welfare.

In the annual report, special thanks were extended to Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Syed Shahab Ali Shah for his valubale role in establishing the Media Enclave for journalists in the New Peshawar Valley and for other welfare measures for journalists in the province, particularly in Peshawar.

The General Body also approved the formation of an Election Committee for the upcoming annual Press Club elections to be held in the last week of December. Senior journalist Shahid Hameed will serve as the Committee’s Chairman, while the members will include Umair Yasar, Bilal Ahmad, Nasir Dawar, and Shahid Khan.
