Peshawar:
Pakistan Television’s Peshawar Centre has embarked on a new journey to preserve regional culture and promote the Hindko language. Since the appointment of General Manager Ibrahim Kamal, the organisation has witnessed significant administrative, creative, and broadcast-related improvements.

The current management has not only enhanced the quality of Urdu and Pashto transmissions but has also initiated practical steps for the promotion of regional languages—particularly Hindko—which had long been neglected.

The primary credit for these achievements of PTV Peshawar Centre goes to Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, whose national vision emphasises integrating every region’s language and culture into the national mainstream. Secretary Information & Broadcasting and PTV Chairman Ashfaq Khalil, along with Additional Director Fatima Sheikh, have also played a key role through their guidance and support.

In line with this vision, PTV Peshawar Centre launched last month a modern and impactful Hindko-language podcast, Aj Di Shaam. The 25-minute programme is a pioneering effort of its kind, and 27 episodes have already been recorded. Renowned poet and literary figure Nasir Ali Syed hosts the show. The podcast has reunited prominent writers, poets, and researchers—who had long been absent from national television—onto one platform, injecting new energy into the literary sphere. Its content, presentation, and relevance have been widely appreciated in literary, social, and public circles.

The administration is confident that the programme will significantly contribute to improving PTV National’s ratings and revenue, helping strengthen the organisation’s financial sustainability. The overall success of this project reflects the combined efforts of Executive Producer and GM Ibrahim Kamal, Producer Nasir Kamal, Programme Manager Jehanzaib Yousafzai, and former GM Abdul Qayyum Hoti.

Under the current leadership, PTV Peshawar’s marketing department has also become more active, aligning broadcast campaigns with modern requirements to ensure both editorial and financial stability.

PTV Peshawar Centre’s ongoing journey stands as a shining example of the revival and promotion of regional languages, literature, and culture.
