PESHAWAR: Rain and snowfall have been reported from various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since early morning, following a weather forecast issued by the Pakistan Meteorological Department. In anticipation, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) had already issued advisory alerts to all district administrations.
According to PDMA, intermittent rain is expected from January 21 to January 24, while snowfall is likely in upper and mountainous areas of the province. No loss of life or property damage has been reported so far, and the overall situation remains normal across KP.
However, heavy snowfall has blocked the Tirah Road, leaving vehicles stranded in Tirah Valley. The district administration is providing food assistance and conducting rescue operations to clear the road. Stranded passengers are being shifted to safer locations with the support of local volunteers.
Meanwhile, Rescue 1122 has deployed 15 rescue personnel from Peshawar to Tirah, along with recovery vehicles, ambulances, medical supplies, essential non-food items, and other rescue equipment to support ongoing relief activities.
The Director General PDMA has directed all district administrations to remain vigilant and keep resources on standby. The DG PDMA is personally monitoring the situation to ensure timely response and effective coordination.
PDMA remains in close coordination with district administrations, Rescue 1122, and relevant line departments. The public is advised to remain cautious—particularly in hilly and vulnerable areas—and to follow official advisories for updates.
