The cheque of Rs2 million announced by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi for the Peshawar Press Club was handed over on Thursday by the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Information and Public Relations, Shafiullah Jan, to Press Club President M. Riaz and General Secretary Alamgir Khan.
The cheque was presented during a ceremony held at the office of the Special Assistant. The grant had been announced by the Chief Minister during the inaugural ceremony of the Peshawar Press Club’s mega sports event, the Media Cricket League.
While handing over the cheque, Shafiullah Jan said the provincial government fully supports healthy activities for journalists. On the occasion, Peshawar Press Club President M. Riaz thanked Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi and Special Assistant Shafiullah Jan for the financial support, terming it a positive step towards the promotion of sports among journalists.
