SBP BSC Peshawar Promotes Women’s Financial Inclusion Under ‘Banking on Equality’ Initiative

The State Bank of Pakistan Banking Services Corporation (SBP BSC) Peshawar organized an event under its “Banking on Equality” policy, reaffirming its commitment to women’s economic empowerment and financial inclusion.

The event was attended by the senior management of SBP BSC Peshawar, reflecting the institution’s strong commitment to gender equality and inclusive banking practices.

The ceremony brought together women entrepreneurs, bankers, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and representatives from various organizations to highlight the importance of creating equal opportunities for women and strengthening their participation in the financial sector.

Distinguished speakers at the event included Ms. Qurat ul Ain, President Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Peshawar; Ms. Fatima Nazish, an experienced journalist at DW News, an international news agency; Ms. Maryam Iqbal, social entrepreneur and founder of Tribal Leather; Dr. Iqra Shahjehan, a medical doctor; Ms. Mudassar Aslam, a senior banker from the Bank of Khyber; Ms. Husna Bibi, an award-winning PWD entrepreneur; and Ms. Rukhshanda Naz, former Ombudsperson KP for Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace and a prominent advocate for women’s rights and workplace dignity.

A key highlight of the event was the participation of women entrepreneurs with disabilities, emphasizing the importance of building an inclusive financial ecosystem that supports women from all segments of society.

Participants were also briefed on the State Bank of Pakistan’s “Banking on Equality” policy, which aims to promote gender equality in the financial sector by encouraging banks to enhance women’s access to finance, develop gender-responsive financial products, increase women’s participation in the banking workforce, and support women-led businesses.

SBP BSC Peshawar reaffirmed its commitment to advancing women’s financial inclusion and promoting an enabling environment where women can actively contribute to Pakistan’s economic development.
