Sindh Police Commando Shahir Afridi — The Boxing Star raising Pakistan’s flag high, Shahir has carved his name among the country’s most inspiring athletes. Shahir joined the Sindh Police in 2017 as part of the Rapid Response Force (RRF). From the very beginning, his department recognized his exceptional talent and encouraged him to pursue his dream of becoming a professional boxer. The Sindh Police went beyond duty, granting him special leave to focus on his training and international competitions — a rare gesture that reflects the department’s commitment to promoting sports and talent among its ranks. So far, Shahir has competed in 18 international fights, achieving 16 victories, one loss, and one draw, a record that stands as proof of his consistency, skill, and determination inside the ring.

Throughout his career, Shahir has expressed deep gratitude to his senior officers, the Sindh Police Department, and the Sindh Government for their continuous encouragement and support. He credits their help for arranging sponsorships and managing vital aspects of his professional journey. He especially thanked Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, and his senior officers including SSP RRF and DIG RRF for their constant guidance and motivation. Shahir praised IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon for his commitment to recognizing and uplifting the talented officers, saying that his encouragement has been a source of great strength throughout his career.

Behind Shahir’s success, however, stands the guiding influence of his father, who has been both his mentor and trainer since childhood. Himself a boxer, Shahir’s father recognized his son’s potential early on and began training him at a young age. Even today, the two continue to practice together — a bond that has shaped Shahir into the disciplined athlete he is. “Becoming a professional boxer is not easy,” Shahir often says. “It takes years of sacrifice, perseverance, and patience. My father’s support has been the foundation of everything I have achieved.” Years of consistent hard work and determination have earned Shahir remarkable achievements. He currently ranks top in Pakistan, 5th in Asia and 66th in the world in professional boxing holding prestigious titles such as the WBC Asia Champion and the WBA South Asia Champion. These milestones not only highlight his individual success but also bring immense pride to Pakistan and the Sindh Police.

In 2025, Shahir represented Pakistan and the Sindh Police at the World Police Games in the United States, showcasing his skill and resilience on one of the biggest international stages. Among his most memorable victories was his match against an Indian boxer in Thailand in May 2025, where he triumphed in a thrilling bout. With great humility, he dedicated this victory to the martyrs of the Armed Forces and the Sindh Police. Today, His journey proves that with faith, hard work, and the right support, dreams can turn into reality. Representing both his department and his country with pride, Shahir continues to inspire countless young Pakistanis to chase their passions reminding them that greatness is achieved not by chance, but by relentless effort and belief in oneself.
