Society of Aircraft Engineers of Pakistan Announces Blackstrap Strike Against PIA Management

Engineers Protest Discrimination, Demand Salary Parity Restoration

Staff Report

KARACHI: The Society of Aircraft Engineers of Pakistan (SAEP) has embarked on a blackstrap strike against the PIA management over critical issues of safety concerns and salary discrimination faced by Aircraft Engineers and Engineering Instructors. The association has strongly condemned the offering of the lowest salary packages in the market despite rising inflation in Pakistan.

According to SAEP, around 200 technical personnel have already left PIA due to inadequate salaries and high inflation. Vice President SAEP, speaking on behalf of members, said that the issue of low salaries had been raised multiple times with the Chief Executive Officer of PIACL, but no tangible steps have been taken so far.

The association has once again requested the CEO PIACL to raise the salaries of PIA employees, particularly Aircraft Engineers and Engineering Instructors, and to reinstate the old salary parity of 100:55.

“This will not only bridge the inflation gap but also enhance the motivation and morale of our members,” said the SAEP Vice President.
