PESHAWAR: Major (retd) Maysam Raza has stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker’s move to summon the Corps Commander for a security briefing is neither constitutionally nor legally correct.
He said the Pakistan Army is a federal institution and, under Article 243 of the Constitution, no provincial assembly or its speaker has the authority to summon a federal security official.
Major (retd) Maysam Raza maintained that if the provincial government requires a security briefing, the proper constitutional procedure is to seek it through the Ministry of Interior and the federal government.
He termed the move as political point scoring, warning that such actions undermine constitutional norms and established legal procedures.
