Sports Advisor Distributes Cash Prizes Among Chitral Polo Players

PESHAWAR/UPPER CHITRAL: Advisor to the Chief Minister on Sports and Youth Affairs, Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand, visited Upper Chitral on Wednesday and distributed cash prize cheques among polo players in recognition of their outstanding performance in the Shandur Polo Tournament last year.

The Advisor specially attended a ceremony held in Upper Chitral for the distribution of cash prizes. He was accompanied by Secretary Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Asif, Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tashfeen Haider, and other senior officials. On this occasion, cash prize cheques amounting to Rs. 500,000 were distributed among polo players of the district.

Upon arrival, Deputy Commissioner Upper Chitral Muhammad Imran Khan warmly welcomed the Advisor and the delegation, while a smart contingent of Chitral Levies presented a guard of honor to the distinguished guests. A grand ceremony was organized at the lawn of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, where Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Imran Khan highlighted the government’s initiatives for the promotion of sports in the district.

President Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Upper Chitral, Sikandar-ul-Mulk, presented a detailed letter of appreciation to the Sports Advisor, highlighting issues related to the dilapidated condition of polo grounds, their repair and restoration, construction of a new sports complex, and the appointment of watchmen for the protection of polo grounds.

Addressing the ceremony, Advisor on Sports Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand announced the repair, renovation, and beautification of polo grounds in Upper Chitral, provision of water to the Ration Polo Ground, and construction of new polo grounds at the tehsil level. He also announced the official adoption of the Qaqalisht Festival, which will be organized under the Sports Department in the future. He assured full support for the promotion of paragliding and other sports activities in the region.

Secretary Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Asif also addressed the gathering and reiterated the government’s commitment to providing continuous support for the promotion of sports across the district.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, cheques of Rs. 500,000 each were distributed among polo teams, including Chitral B Team, Chitral C Team, Chitral D Team, Sub-Division Mastuj Polo Team, Laspur A Team, and Laspur B Team.
