Sports Festival for Orphaned Children to Begin in Peshawar on January 21

PESHAWAR: Under the auspices of the Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a Sports Festival for orphaned and destitute children of Zamung Kor will be held from January 21 to January 24 at the Model Institute for State Children, Zamung Kor, Charsadda Road, Peshawar.

Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Tashfeen Haider, while speaking to the media, said that a wide range of competitions will be organized during the festival, including cricket, football, badminton, kabaddi, basketball, tug of war, athletics, volleyball, and musical chairs. On the occasion, Director Operations Jamshed Baloch, Director Model Institute Sadaqat Ullah, and other dignitaries were also present.

He further stated that the opening ceremony on January 21 will be inaugurated by the Advisor to the Chief Minister for Sports, Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand, while the closing ceremony on January 24 will be attended by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi, as the chief guest.

Children from Zamung Kor Peshawar, Zamung Kor Abbottabad, Swat Campus, Dera Ismail Khan Campus, Akhpal Kor Swat, SOS, and other orphan care institutions will participate in the festival. More than 500 boys and girls are expected to take part.

DG Sports emphasized that the objective of the festival is to engage children in healthy recreational activities and to provide them with a platform to showcase and develop their sporting talent.
