MARDAN: A modern Medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) equipped with advanced healthcare facilities has been formally inaugurated at Akbar Medical Complex in Mardan. The ceremony was conducted by former Director General of PHSA (Public Health Services Academy) Dr. Janbaz Afridi.
The inaugural event was attended by former DG Health and Chief Executive of the hospital, Dr. Arshad Ahmad Khan, DHQ Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Javed Iqbal, District Health Officer Dr. Muhammad Shoaib, Deputy DHO Dr. Ikramullah Safi, Dr. Kachkol Khan, and the owner of the complex, Haji Khan Akbar Afridi, among several other distinguished guests.
The chief guest cut the ribbon to officially open the ward and inspected various sections of the newly established facility. He praised the healthcare services being offered at the complex and expressed his satisfaction over the standard of care.
Briefing the participants, Chief Executive Dr. Arshad Ahmad Khan stated that Akbar Medical Complex is committed to providing quality and affordable treatment to patients.
Earning profit is not our objective serving humanity in distress is our mission, he affirmed.
He further added that with the completion of the modern ICU, patients from Mardan and surrounding areas will no longer need to travel to major cities for critical care.
According to Dr. Arshad, the newly established ICU comprises 10 beds five allocated for male and five for female patients fully equipped with the latest machinery and monitoring systems. The unit is also integrated with the Sehat Card Program, enabling low-income individuals to avail services with ease.
He also revealed that a separate ICU for cardiac patients has already been set up at the facility, along with angiography, stenting, and other essential treatment services, making the complex a fully functional healthcare center.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Janbaz Afridi termed the establishment of the ICU as a timely and vital initiative, noting that private sector healthcare institutions are playing an increasingly important role in delivering modern medical services. Dr. Javed Iqbal and Dr. Muhammad Shoaib also remarked that public trust in private hospitals is steadily growing.
