Thrilling Contests Continue in RMI Media Cricket League

PPC Qabail, Cheeta, Zalmi and Panthers Qualify for Quarterfinals

Peshawar: Exciting and action-packed matches continue in the RMI Media Cricket League where PPC Qabail, Cheeta, Zalmi and Panthers have qualified for the quarterfinal stage. During the matches held at Gymkhana Cricket Ground Peshawar, Chief Guest CCPO Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmed distributed prizes among the players. President Peshawar Press Club M. Riaz, Secretary Tayyab Usman, senior journalist Shamim Shahid, SP Arshad Khan, DSP Ejaz Nabi, Secretary Khyber Union of Journalists Irshad Ali, Chairman Sports Committee Irfan Musazai and a large number of journalists were also present on the occasion.

In the first match PPC Qabail defeated Qalandars by ten wickets. Batting first Qalandars scored 54 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Shahid Afridi claimed two wickets for Qabail. In reply Qabail chased the target without losing a wicket. Asad Sabri remained unbeaten on 41 and was declared Player of the Match.

In the second match PPC Cheeta overpowered Shaheen by 24 runs. Cheeta, batting first, set a target of 116 runs with Irshad scoring a notable 36. In response Shaheen managed 92 runs for six wickets. Cheeta’s Fahad and Zarshad took two wickets each while Zarshad was named Player of the Match.

The third match was played between PPC Dolphin and Zalmi. Dolphin, batting first posted 73 runs, with Tayyab Usman unbeaten on 35. Zalmi successfully chased the target for the loss of three wickets and Nabi Jan was declared Player of the Match.

In the final match PPC Panthers defeated Markhor by eight wickets. Markhor scored 65 runs for six wickets, with Arshad Yousafzai contributing 35 runs. Panthers comfortably achieved the target and Zahid Imdad was awarded Player of the Match.

Addressing the ceremony CCPO Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmed said that such activities play an effective role in eliminating social evils. He appreciated the Peshawar Press Club for promoting healthy activities through such events. He added that the journalist community of Peshawar has always fulfilled its professional responsibilities with dedication. In the end he also announced cash prizes for the Sports Committee and both teams.
