MARDAN: UET Mardan is pleased to announce the signing of a significant Letter of Collaboration (LoC) with the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS), Kenya. The agreement, signed by Prof. Dr. Gul Muhammad Khan, Vice Chancellor UET Mardan, marks an important step in strengthening the university’s global partnerships and expanding its international research presence. This collaboration establishes a strategic relationship to jointly pursue research, product development, capacity building, and sustainable, technology-driven solutions benefiting both Asia and Africa.
The partnership aims to promote research and innovation in Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, climate resilience, and technology-based socio-economic development. It reflects a shared commitment to fostering academic linkages, supporting technology transfer, and launching collaborative projects that address common challenges across both regions.
Under the LoC, ACTS will connect UET Mardan with African academia, research institutions, and industry. It will evaluate the viability of UET Mardan’s technologies for African markets, collaborate on joint research, offer capacity-building training, co-organize workshops and conferences, and participate in joint dissemination of research. As a leading intergovernmental think tank, ACTS will play a vital role in introducing and facilitating the adoption of UET Mardan’s innovations within African institutions.
UET Mardan will support the collaboration by coordinating research activities, appointing a focal person, hosting technical trainings and workshops, and providing the academic and technical expertise needed to pilot AI, IoT, and technology-based solutions. Through this role, the university underscores its commitment to advancing applied research and contributing to global technological development.
This partnership reflects UET Mardan’s vision of becoming a globally engaged institution and is expected to lead to impactful research outcomes, sustainable innovations, and long-term academic cooperation between the two regions.
