Wheelchair Tennis Talent Hunt Held in Abbottabad

Abbottabad: As part of the Wheelchair Tennis Talent Hunt Program organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tennis Association (KPTA) in collaboration with ITF/PTF and the Hazara Region Tennis Association, a special ceremony was held at the Abbottabad Club.

The event was graced by Syed Siyam Ali Gilani and former DG Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tariq Mahmood as chief guests. Senior Vice President KPK Tennis Association and Coordinator KPK Wheelchair Tennis Umar Ayaz Khalil, Hazara Region Tennis President Professor Nasir Mahmood, Manager Abbottabad Club Shabbir Ahmed, along with Abdul Noman, Shahsawar, Ryan, Umar Khalil, and Tahseenullah were also present.

A total of 15 wheelchair tennis players from Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Torghar, Battagram, Havelian, Naran, Gilgit-Baltistan, Taxila, and Kaghan participated in the talent hunt. Coaches trained the players in basic skills and various game techniques.

Speaking on the occasion, Umar Ayaz Khalil said that the Hazara region is rich in talent and that such initiatives will help polish their abilities. He announced that wheelchair rackets, balls, refreshments, and daily allowances will be provided to the players.

Professor Nasir Mahmood welcomed the guests and expressed gratitude for their support and encouragement toward wheelchair athletes. Players including Muhammad Riaz, Shahzad Abbas, Zeeshan Ahmed Abbas, Syed Noor Hassan Shah, Faisal Mahmood, and others appreciated the efforts of Umar Ayaz Khalil for creating opportunities in sports like tennis for differently-abled athletes.
