Widow claims brother-in-law illegally sold two-kanal property

PESHAWAR: An elderly woman, Shah Gul, reached the Peshawar Press Club seeking justice after allegedly being deprived of property worth millions of rupees located in the Faqirabad area of Peshawar. Speaking to the media, she detailed the alleged injustices committed against her and appealed to higher authorities to take immediate notice of the matter.

Shah Gul stated that her late husband, Abdul Waheed, belonged to the Malik family. After her husband’s death, she alleged that her brother-in-law, Ghulam Fareed, illegally took control of the family property and sold several shops and a bungalow without taking her into confidence.

According to her, she has been misled continuously for the past five years, while only a few hundred thousand rupees were given to her from property allegedly worth millions. She said the amount was spent on household expenses, children’s upbringing, and rent payments.

She explained that the property originally belonged to her father-in-law, who passed away nearly fifty years ago. A two-kanal bungalow located opposite the stadium within the jurisdiction of Faqirabad Police Station was jointly owned by six brothers and one sister. The sister was given some money and a house, while five of the brothers have since passed away.

The affected woman alleged that after her husband’s death, her brother-in-law prepared fake documents and sold the two-kanal bungalow to Malik Zardad, son of Jahangir, without informing her or sharing any details of the transaction.

She further claimed that land prices in the area were around 3.5 million rupees per marla five years ago and have now risen to nearly 10 million rupees per marla. However, she alleged that the actual price was concealed and shown as lower to deprive the family of their rightful share.

Shah Gul said she has two sons, one of whom is physically disabled while the other is unemployed. Due to financial hardship, her grandchildren are being deprived of education. She also alleged that the local police station failed to address her complaints and that she was forced to visit multiple offices, further straining her limited financial resources.

She added that two large banana storage shops belonging to her share were also allegedly occupied, while her brother-in-law has reportedly acquired properties in upscale areas.

Shah Gul appealed to philanthropists, the SSP Peshawar, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, senior officials, and relevant institutions to conduct a transparent investigation and ensure that she and her children receive their lawful rights so they can be freed from a life of hardship and uncertainty.
