Widows, Elderly Demand Recovery of Defrauded Millions

Peshawar: Widowed women and elderly residents from Harichand, Tehsil Tangi, District Charsadda, who were allegedly defrauded in the name of property investment, held a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Thursday under the leadership of Ghulam Ishaq.

They stated that a man named Sabeeh ur Rehman, son of Azeem Khan, had embezzled millions of rupees from them over the past four years, allegedly deceiving them with promises of property investments. His sons, Iftikhar and Khaista Rehman, are also accused of being involved in the fraud.

Ghulam Ishaq said that despite approaching authorities repeatedly, their applications mysteriously disappear, and even the police seem powerless against Sabeeh ur Rehman. He detailed that individual losses ranged from Rs. 12.3 million to Rs. 30 million, with the total defrauded amount reportedly reaching Rs. 500 million—money that has not been returned for four years.

The victims questioned whether the government had become so helpless that it could not recover the life savings of widows and orphans. They demanded intervention from the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inspector General of Police, DPO Charsadda, the Revenue Department, and other relevant authorities to recover the defrauded funds and provide justice.

The victims warned that failure to act would force them to stage protest demonstrations outside the offices of the CM and IG Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
