World Anesthesia Day Celebrated at Gomal University

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: On the instructions of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences at Gomal University organized a ceremony to mark World Anesthesia Day. The event was arranged by Dr. Ehsanullah, Head of the Department of Anesthesia Technology, along with his team.

Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Naimatullah Khan attended as the chief guest, while Dean Faculty of Allied Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Shafiullah Khan, Dean Faculty of Sciences, and Dean Faculty of Social Sciences were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Naimatullah Khan appreciated the efforts of the students and encouraged them to continue their journey with hard work, honesty, and dedication. He also extended his best wishes for their bright future.

Prof. Dr. Shafiullah Khan, in his address, highlighted the history of anesthesia, stating that the first successful anesthesia procedure using ether was performed on October 16, 1846, at Massachusetts General Hospital in the United States — a milestone that is commemorated globally as World Anesthesia Day. He emphasized that the day is dedicated to honoring the life-saving contributions of anesthesia professionals.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, shields were distributed among outstanding students, followed by an awareness walk to mark the importance of the day.
