Zalmi Women’s Cricket League Season 2 Begins in Peshawar

Peshawar: The Zalmi Women’s Cricket League Season 2 began in Peshawar, organized by Peshawar Zalmi and the Zalmi Foundation with the support of Ufone 4G, UN Women and the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The opening ceremony was attended by Secretary Education KP Captain (R) Kamran Afridi and Peshawar Zalmi star Muhammad Haris.

On the first day at the Hayatabad Sports Complex, three matches were played. In the first match, D.I. Khan defeated Kohat by eight wickets. In the second match, Bannu defeated Mardan by eight wickets. In the third match, Peshawar defeated Malakand by eight runs.

The matches scheduled for Friday include Bannu playing against Hazara, Peshawar facing Kohat, and Peshawar All Stars competing against Mardan.

The semi-finals and final of the tournament will be held on December 1.

This year’s league continues the vision of “From Dream to Reality,” aiming to promote women’s cricket and provide greater opportunities to young female players.

Season 2 is being organized with the support of Ufone 4G, UN Women, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Higher Education Department KP and DG Sports KP, reflecting their commitment to women’s empowerment and equal opportunities.

Season 1 successfully introduced the first women’s cricket league in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and helped discover new female talent. Defending champions Peshawar All Stars are determined to retain their title this season.

Peshawar Zalmi and Zalmi Foundation Chairman Mr. Javed Afridi expressed pride in the league’s progress and reaffirmed his commitment to promoting gender equality, youth empowerment and opportunities for women in sports.
