MARDAN : A key meeting concerning 70 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers nominated in the May 9 cases and facing various other cases was held in Mardan, with the participation of PTI members of the provincial assembly, former provincial minister and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly member Zahir Shah Toru, Iftikhar Ali Mashwani and Abdul Salam Afridi, along with members of the legal team, party office-bearers and workers.
The meeting conducted a detailed review of the cases related to May 9. Participants also discussed in detail the situation of workers currently in jail, their cases and progress in the ongoing trials.
During the meeting, lawyers including Riaz Painda Khel, Jawad Advocate, Azhar Rahim Advocate, Inam Advocate and Sajjad Advocate briefed the participants on legal matters. The lawyers provided detailed information regarding various legal aspects of the cases, the current situation and potential concerns.
Participants expressed their resolve that workers facing May 9 cases would participate with full enthusiasm in the movement for Imran Khan’s release and the September 27 march, while efforts would be made to further organize and strengthen the party’s political activities.
They said they remained committed to the struggle for Imran Khan’s release and “real freedom” and would continue playing their role in keeping the movement alive and taking it toward success.
They said they were proud to be part of a political struggle aimed at ensuring the supremacy of the Constitution and law in Pakistan, protecting the rights of the people and raising a voice for real freedom.
The meeting decided that, as part of preparations for the September 27 march, party leaders and workers would mobilize in their respective areas, expand contacts with the public and workers, and organize and motivate people to participate in the march.
Participants made it clear that workers facing May 9 cases would not be left alone. Legal proceedings on their behalf would continue with full force, while political efforts for Imran Khan’s release and the party’s position would also be intensified.
