SWAT: A female polio worker in Kanju area of Kabal tehsil, Swat, has received a threatening letter from unknown people. The letter warned her not to go outside her home and not to give polio drops to children. It also threatened to kill her if she continues her work.
The worker, Farhat Begum, wife of Faisal Elahi, was told in the letter that she had been warned many times before, but she did not stop. The letter also claimed that giving polio vaccine is against their beliefs and said she would be made an example for others.
The letter further warned that people who did not listen in the past faced serious consequences, and the same would happen to her. This is not the first time she has received such threats.The letter also says that their house should be demolished.
After this incident, fear has spread in the area, and other polio workers are also worried. Police have started an investigation and are searching for the unknown persons behind the threat.
