PESHAWAR: The Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO), under the leadership of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has achieved a major milestone as all three units of the 40.8 MW Koto Hydropower Project have been successfully energized and are currently supplying 31 MW of electricity to the national grid.
The development was witnessed by the Chief Executive Officer of Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization, Member Hydel, and Chief Engineer (Development), reflecting strong institutional coordination and commitment to timely completion of strategic energy projects.
Commissioned in August 2025, the Koto Hydropower Project is operating efficiently in line with available hydrological conditions. The project demonstrates effective use of indigenous water resources and highlights PEDOโs technical and operational expertise.
The achievement reinforces the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa commitment to promoting clean and renewable energy, reducing reliance on imported fuels, ensuring affordable and reliable electricity, and strengthening provincial energy security.
The Chief Minister has consistently stressed the need to utilize the provinceโs vast hydropower potential to support sustainable economic growth and provide relief to consumers through low-cost electricity generation.
PEDO reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating hydropower development across the province, contributing to a greener, self-reliant, and energy-secure Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
