Karachi: Police operations against narcotics and illegal gutka networks continue to intensify with a significant seizure reported in District Keamari and a large scale crackdown carried out in the South Zone.
According to police officials, the Mauripur Police acting on confidential intelligence, conducted a targeted raid at Rehman Goth. During the operation, authorities recovered 134 sacks of chhalia weighing over 41 maunds (approximately 1,650 kilograms) with an estimated market value exceeding Rs5 million. The contraband had reportedly been transported via a truck and was intended to be dumped in a nearby beachside hut. Two suspects were arrested on the spot and a case has been registered against the accused and further investigations are underway to trace the broader network involved.
In a parallel operation, the South Zone Police conducted a grand operation against drug dens in Pak Colony and Jahanabad. The operation, led by the SSP Keamari involved four DSPs, ten SHOs and a heavy contingent of police personnel. During the crackdown approximately 150 suspected individuals were taken into custody. Utilizing prison vans, search teams and modern detection devices, law enforcement agencies carried out extensive checks. Screening through advanced search systems revealed criminal records of six individuals who were subsequently shifted to police stations for further legal action.
DIG South Asad Raza stated that operations against drug peddlers in Pak Colony, Jahanabad and surrounding areas have been further intensified. He added that drug addicts will be shifted to rehabilitation centers while a policy of zero tolerance continues to be strictly enforced against criminal and narcotics dealers.
