Immediate rescue operation urged for Dr Asma’s body

TIMES REPORT

KARACHI: CEO of RK Sports Management Raees Khan has urged the government to launch an immediate rescue operation to recover the body of mountaineer Dr Asma Mushtaq, who reportedly remains at around 6,400 metres on Spantik Peak after falling ill during her descent.

Raees Khan expressed concern over the reported Rs3 million demand for recovering the body, calling the situation deplorable. He said mountaineers pay substantial fees but are not provided adequate rescue and emergency medical facilities.

He urged the government to establish modern rescue centres, trained teams, helicopters and emergency medical services at major mountaineering sites. He also called for mandatory medical checks and proper high-altitude safety guidance for climbers.

Raees Khan warned that inadequate rescue facilities could damage Pakistan’s tourism and mountaineering sectors and urged authorities to ensure the immediate recovery of Dr Asma’s body.
