Peshawar: The spokesperson of the Young Nurses Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has strongly condemned the act of tearing up the duty roster of nursing officers, prepared by the Deputy Chief Nursing Superintendent, by MS Dr. Shamaila at Molvi Amir Shah Memorial Hospital Peshawar.

According to the spokesperson, this is not just a duty roster but an insult to the entire nursing cadre. Destroying an official document in such a manner is not only unprofessional but also unethical behavior, which is strongly condemned by the entire nursing community.

He stated that unnecessary interference in the nursing duty roster is unacceptable. Nursing is an autonomous cadre and knows how to manage its affairs effectively. No doctor has the authority to interfere in the administrative matters of nursing.

The spokesperson further said that if the system were truly effective, the government would not be compelled to consider privatization. Despite doctors holding key positions across the health system, questions are being raised about overall performance, which need to be addressed.

He warned that if interference in the nursing cadre continues, the association will respond strongly and demand the appointment of bureaucratic administrators in hospitals.

He also urged the nursing community to unite for the sake of their professional dignity and patient care, and to resist interference by non-nursing staff.

In conclusion, the spokesperson appealed to the Secretary Health and DG Health to take immediate notice of the matter; otherwise, the nursing community will be forced to adopt a strong course of protest.
