TIMES REPORT

TEHRAN: Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye have agreed to continue consultations on regional peace and security following a four-nation meeting in Tehran, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Wednesday.

In a social media post, Araghchi said the meeting provided an important opportunity to advance dialogue on regional peace and security and strengthen cooperation among the participating countries.

He said a shared sense of responsibility among regional countries was essential for achieving sustainable peace and security.

The Iranian foreign minister said transforming regional cooperation into a lasting partnership required agreement on fundamental principles, confidence-building measures, mutual respect and practical commitments.

Araghchi said regional countries needed to strengthen mutual trust and respect national sovereignty to establish an effective framework for cooperation.

He said Iran supported the establishment of a regional security framework without the military presence or interference of powers from outside the region.

The Iranian foreign minister said countries in the region must take responsibility for determining their own future and addressing security challenges through collective efforts.

Referring to Israel, Araghchi said confronting what he described as aggression by the Zionist regime was a fundamental requirement for regional security.

He said countering such aggression was necessary to safeguard national sovereignty and prevent the further spread of war in the region.

The Iranian foreign minister said neighbouring countries remained Iran’s top priority in its regional relations.

Araghchi said the agreement among Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye to continue dialogue provided an opportunity to develop sustainable regional cooperation based on mutual respect, shared responsibility and practical measures.
