Governor Kundi urges investment in youth, calls for expansion of GIK campuses

SWABI: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday said that the youth were Pakistan’s greatest strength and empowering them was essential for the country’s sustainable development, urging students to equip themselves with modern technological skills to meet future challenges.

Addressing the annual convocation of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIK Institute), the Governor said the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa possessed exceptional talent and could bring laurels to the country if provided with equal opportunities.

Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani attended the ceremony as chief guest and conferred degrees upon graduating students besides awarding medals and honours to those who demonstrated outstanding academic performance.

The ceremony was also attended by Chairman Board of Governors and Executive Committee Salim Saifullah Khan, Board member Shakil Durrani, GIK Rector Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid, faculty members, students and their parents.

Congratulating the graduating students, Governor Kundi said their success reflected their hard work, dedication, the prayers of their parents and the sacrifices made by their families.

He said the graduating engineers would play a vital role in Pakistan’s development, infrastructure improvement and national reconstruction, adding that GIK Institute had established itself as one of the country’s leading engineering universities.

The Governor said the bright future of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa depended on the abilities and positive thinking of its young generation, saying that the province’s youth had already proven their capabilities at the international level.

He urged students to acquire expertise in artificial intelligence, green energy, cybersecurity and other emerging technologies, saying mastery of modern sciences was the key to global competitiveness and success.

Kundi said education was not merely about obtaining a degree but also about serving the nation and contributing towards positive social change.

He also stressed the need to establish additional campuses of GIK Institute in the southern and northern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to ensure students from remote areas had access to quality engineering education and advanced research facilities.
